Description
One of the most uniquely colored roses and with unrivaled flower power among floribundas, ‘Cinco de Mayo’ features unique double blooms in almost indescribable shades of lavender, orange and red, all on the same bloom. The petal colors are brighter when temperatures are warm and “smoky” when it’s cooler. Blooms start appearing in abundance in spring and continue through the season all the way to frost. What’s more, the clean and glossy green foliage shines in the garden and is the perfect backdrop for the blooms. Ideal for garden beds and containers.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, the Cinco De Mayo Rose is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings or as a colorful hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, rose gardens, cottage gardens and container gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3 to 3.5 feet apart for hedges; 6 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Cinco De Mayo Rose is easy to grow in average, moist but well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, to avoid powdery mildew, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. Afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sun light for best flowering.
Maintenance is minimal with no pruning required, though the plant can benefit from it. An annual pruning in late winter, at which time branches can be cut back to about 18 inches above the ground, will result in a fuller plant throughout the growing season. After this hard pruning, your rose will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures. Deadheading spent flowers through the season is not necessary however will encourage more new buds and flowers.

Nice healthy looking plants. Came packed in a way that even the UPS gorillas couldn’t hurt them. Two of these planted beside a “Brindabella Purple Prince” rose, and will be between that and two “Easy Does It” roses when they come in. Looking forward to spring, when this and the other roses wake up from their winter nap.———————————————Thanks so much for your review.
