Description
When it comes to flowering trees, there’s simply no others more showy than Crape Myrtles. They bloom for up to 100 days during summer, when there are few other trees and shrubs providing that service in the landscape. Colorful fall foliage and attractive exfoliating bark in winter enhance their overall appeal. It’s no wonder they are so wildly popular among designers and gardeners!
Delta Moonlight Crape Myrtle is an exciting new hybrid with deep maroon leaves that hold their color all season long. During summer an abundance of bright white flowers come that contrast beautifully with the dark foliage. Delta Moonlight is a mid-size crape myrtle with a fast rate of growth to 8 to 12 feet in height and 4 to 6 feet wide – the perfect size flowering tree for smaller garden spaces.
Landscape & Garden Uses
With an upright growth habit 8 to 12 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, the Delta Moonlight Crape Myrtle is an ideal selection for smaller garden spaces, and containers. It can be grown as a shrub or lower branches can be removed to form a very attractive small tree, making it an excellent choice for use as a specimen or accent in sunny home foundation plantings or landscape borders. Also makes a very colorful hedge and is spectacular in groupings. Whether planted as a specimen or in groupings, this is one plant that is sure to stand out in the landscape!
Suggested Spacing: 4 to 5 feet apart for solid hedge; 10 feet or more apart for space between trees
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Crape Myrtle variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Delta Moonlight Crape Myrtle is very easy to grow. It is not picky about soil type provided the soil is well-drained. A moist but well-drained soil of average fertility is preferred. Full sun is preferred and results in heavier flower production. Light shade is tolerated but flowering will be diminished in more shade. Has shown excellent resistance to powdery mildew and is quite drought tolerant when established.

Don’t like to order plants online since I’ve had a lot of bad experiences. Not this time! My order arrived quickly and despite the box being a little beaten up the bush I ordered was in great condition. I was amazed how well it was packaged. Great item, great price, great company. An overall great experience.—————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
This is my second time ordering at Wilson Bros Garden. Both experiences have been fantastic. I so recommend them! If you are looking to compare prices, you are paying for quality – I went the cheaper route the first time around and got unhealthy trees so I decided to come back and shop here again.
Also, they are very helpful both, online and over the phone.—————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

I called all over town trying to find a Delta Moonlight at a local nursery but no one had any in stock (and they weren’t really familiar with them at all). I was avoiding buying this online because I assumed it would arrive looking really grumpy, dry, and small. I was totally wrong! I was so impressed by how big it was (approximately 4′ tall, 3-gallon) and the soil was still moist so it was happy as can be. Crape Myrtles are very happy this time of year (mid-June) but I was worried it would get baked in the back of a truck but you can’t tell at all.
I planted and watered it right away and trimmed up the bottom branches since I am going to grow it more like a tree than a shrub. I have no doubt that it will be blooming right on schedule and it won’t really go into shock, as I thought it might.
I am so happy! I will definitely order from Wilson Bros again given the speed, ease, and quality in which it arrived.———————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

Packaging: excellent, delivery time: OK. 2 trees: leaves very dried out and sparse. A bit worrying at the time. The one was a gift and haven’t seen it since we delivered and planted it. Ours is container planted and looks to be coming along fine. Can’t wait for next Spring when it blooms. ————————- WBG Reply: Hi Nancy – Thanks for your review of the Delta Moonlight Crape Myrtle and we hope you enjoy this beauty for years to come. Crape myrtles are going dormant this time of year and losing their leaves, which explains why they were sparse and the ones remaining were dry. We usually put a note in the box to explain this however there’s a possibility it was accidentally left out. Keep us posted as to how the crape myrtles do and let us know if there’s ever anything else we can help you with. We’re at your service! – Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens
