Description
L.A. Dreamin’ Hydrangea provides bold and beautiful 8-inch diameter snowball-like flower clusters of blue, pink, lavender and all shades between on the same bush! The soil pH has no effect on its ability to produce flowers of multi colors so you won’t have to worry about adding specific nutrients to get a desired flower color. Flowers appear in early summer and continue to the first frost in fall. It is equally hardy as it is beautiful. In our gardens, this amazing mophead hydrangea stands up to the heat as well as the Endless Summer.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing naturally in a rounded mound 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, the L.A. Dreamin’ Hydrangea is ideal for use as a specimen or accent or grouping in home foundation plantings, flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens. In larger landscape spaces it is especially stunning in larger groupings or in straight or staggered rows as a colorful hedge. A fine addition to Hydrangea gardens, cut flower gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3 to 4 feet apart for solid hedges; 8 feet or more apart for space between plants

How Many Plants Needed To Cover A Planting Area?
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Planting Zone 5a, where this Hydrangea variety is not reliably winter hardy outdoors, you can enjoy it in containers that can be moved indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
L.A. Dreamin’ Hydrangea is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil with average fertility and full sun to part shade in northern zones and part shade (morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun) in southern zones. For best flowering, we suggest 4 hours of direct sun light per day. As with so many other ornamental plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic. Flower color is your choice. Acidic soils will make blue flowers while a neutral to slightly alkaline soil will make pink flowers.
Note: L.A. Dreamin’ is a Hydrangea macrophylla species that produces its flowers from buds that formed on “old wood” (during the previous year). This means that even though it is tempting to cut them back in the winter, when they are only bare sticks jutting out of the ground, don’t do it. The flower buds are already formed and hidden in those bare sticks, so don’t cut them off if you want flowers.

I was hesitant to order plants online, however, after reviewing what other customers had to say, I took the chance and have NO regrets. This company not only has such a great variety of products to choose from, but they were SO timely in shipping and honored my vague request to have it shipped by a certain date. I ordered a total of 5 plants and all 5 arrived in mint condition, as if, I had picked them out myself from a nursery. Not having a “green thumb”, it came with perfect/detailed instructions within the package(so no need to google/you tube) and then any additional information I needed, For anything additional, I was instructed to go on to the website which has everything. Needless to say, I’ll never go to another Lowes/Home Depot or Nursery as I’ve never been able to get this much selection with such quality in product and delivery. Honestly, I had nothing but the best experience, from ordering online on a very user friendly and intuitive website, to payment, to shipping to receiving BEAUTIFUL and lush plants. I will be making ALL future purchases from this company moving forward! (we’ve got several properties)…

I almost never write reviews, but I was so overwhelmingly IMPRESSED by the size and condition of this LA Dreamin’ Hydrangea upon arrival, that I felt compelled to logon and write a completely unsolicited and unbiased review. I have ordered a lot of mail-order plants from other vendors over the years. I usually want a particular flower or color that isn’t available in stock in stores. Usually, the “plants” arrive as bare sticks or minuscule little shoots, and it always feel like a question and a gamble as to whether the plant is healthy and 50-50 as to whether it will actually mature into a full, flowering plant. In fact, in this case, I wanted an LA Dreamin’ Hydrangea because it is the only hydrangea that grows in my Zone. I had ordered them from 2 different vendors first, and they kept sending me the wrong plant, and the plants that arrived from these other vendors were teeny tiny with crisp dead brown leaves. I then ordered from Wilson Bros. In stark contrast to my prior orders from other vendors, this LA Dreamin’ Hydrangea arrived, and I had absolutely no doubt that this is a healthy, vibrant, well-cared for FULL PLANT! The box it arrived in was huge, and the plant itself was also HUGE. Every leaf was perfect and glossy green. Not a blemish! I was so in love with it that I dropped everything and planted it immediately. I’ve attached photos – this is not weeks or months after the plant arrived after it had time to grow. This is the SAME DAY it arrived! No lie!!!! I will without hesitation buy again from Wilson Bros! I can tell they shower their plants with love and careful attention.————————————–Thanks for the photos, they are so beautiful! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

I live in zone 9B and have been looking for a hydrangea that would survive our harsh south Texas sun when I came across this one. When it arrived, it arrived in good condition with good packaging. No blooms, but the plant was HUGE – much bigger than anticipated – with still moist soil despite a shipping delay from the carrier. It remained in its pot for several days to acclimatize before we finally planted it, and it has already survived several 100°F days with morning sun. It has had just a little bit of stress while the roots are still getting established, but it immediately perks up with a good watering. I’m confident this plant will thrive once established, and I’ll definitely be looking at getting a few more once they’re back in stock!——————————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! I ordered the one gallon in Everlasting Revolution and the three gallon L. A. Dreamin’. A few days later I received the box…dumped unceremoniously on my porch on its end even though there were arrows indicating it should have been kept on its side. This isn’t my first mail order plant experience, and I had moderately low expectations. I thought I’d open it to find damaged plants and soil all over the place. I was delighted to see that wasn’t the case! The packaging kept the plants secure and there was damp paper taped to prevent the soil from spilling. The soil was still damp and the plants are gorgeous and large! They both have buds and not a leaf was out of place. They a re immaculate. Not a spot, not a bruised leaf, nothing that gave evidence of the long journey they’d been on. I had looked at local nurseries and they didn’t have the varieties I wanted. These two are far more beautiful than anything I have seen locally available. It’s obvious that they have been well cared for. I just can’t get over it! I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep them alive, much less as pristine as they are right now but I’m going to try. I was planning to put them in my front yard beds, but I might keep them on my patio where I spend more time just so I can see them more. I’m really impressed with Wilson Bros. Anything that goes wrong with these plants is all my fault. I can’t wait to see them in full bloom. I’m definitely going to order here again and I think everyone who wants quality, large plants should not hesitate to order from them.———————————————————–We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase!
